from the field
HARDI Newsletter visits Niels Brink who lives close to Kjellerup. The self-propelled sprayer is his fourth HARDI product and he has used the TWIN since 1996. The farm sprays up to 7,000 ha per season in fields of various sizes, slope and soil types.
With 11 harvesters already, the business just seems to keep growing. Mr. Zbigniew himself is growing a bit over 160 hectares of corn, rape and wheat, but as a contractor he is spraying more than 3,000 hectares a year. From now on, this will be done using his brand new NAVIGATOR 4000-litre sprayer with the high performing two-folded 24-metre DELTA FORCE boom.
HARDI NEWSLETTER visited Mikael Gilbertsson at Stjernsunds Gård farm north of Lake Vättern in Sweden. Mikael has owned Stjernsunds Gård since 1994, and together with his wife Inga-Lill Gilbertsson, he has purchased other farms since then, so they are now farming about 1,300 ha of land, as well as veal and egg production.
The former agricultural advisor invites us to his office in his private residence. “We have been farming here for almost 25 years”, he says. “But for the last three years, we have combined forces with two other farms from the neighbourhood, this way we can share machines and thereby lower our costs.” Of the total amount of approx. 1,700 hectares, Jan Wagner owns the 550 hectares. “Our most important crops are definitely wheat, followed by winter rape and winter barley, they represent 600, 480 and 250 hectares accordingly. Besides that, we have a bit of triticale, beans, peas and maize.
Spraying on raw arable land requires a stable boom and the pump on the sprayer must be simple and reliable as this is the most important machine at the farm. These were some of the requirements from a Danish plant-breeding farmer when he once again chose to buy a sprayer from HARDI.
