From the village of Encinas de Abajo in Salamanca, Spain, Juan Manuel Redero manages around 500 hectares of farmland. Maize makes up most of his rotation, followed by potatoes, wheat and barley. Farming has been part of his family for generations – and so has HARDI.
“For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a HARDI customer,” Juan Manuel explains.
“I started with a 600-litre sprayer, then moved to an NK 800, then a MEGA, a NAVIGATOR, and now the AEON CENTURA line. It has always been a natural progression – and I’m very happy with the AEON.”
With a tank size of 5,500 litres and a 36 m boom, Juan Manuel experiences real efficiency in his daily work.
“By having such a large tank, I avoid many extra trips to refill. That saves both time and fuel – and lets me focus on spraying when the conditions are right,” he says.
The boom on the AEON CENTURA combines both capacity and flexibility. With section control and nozzle-by-nozzle shut-off, Juan Manuel can avoid overlap – something that is especially crucial in sensitive crops such as potatoes. The adjustable boom width, which can be reduced to 18 or 24 metres, also makes the sprayer practical for smaller fields, while the reduced number of wheel tracks helps minimise soil damage and ensures easier harvesting later in the season.
In Salamanca, weather conditions can change quickly, leaving only a narrow time frame for treatments.
“Sometimes in the morning the wind or humidity makes spraying impossible. That means I only have a few hours late in the day – from 7 or 8 in the evening until nightfall. In those situations, I need the sprayer ready and reliable. The AEON makes it possible to make the most of those short windows,” Juan Manuel says.
These short spraying windows demand not only speed but also certainty. For Juan Manuel, it is essential that every minute in the field counts. The AEON CENTURA helps him achieve this through its fast filling system, intuitive controls and dependable accuracy, which together allow him to begin work without delay when conditions improve.
While technology is important, reliability and service are what keep Juan Manuel loyal to HARDI.
“This sprayer has never left me stranded. Of course, all machines can break down, but whenever I’ve needed help, the technical service solved it quickly – whether mechanical issues or software updates,” he says.
He reflects on the importance of support in an era of rapidly advancing technology:
“Technology is moving faster than farmers can always keep up with. But HARDI technicians know what they’re doing – and that gives me confidence. Without good service, even a small issue could stop you. With HARDI, that hasn’t been a problem.”
Juan Manuel sees his investment in the AEON as more than simply upgrading to a new sprayer; it is a deliberate step towards preparing his farm for the future. Stricter regulations on crop protection and growing consumer demand for sustainable production mean that efficiency and responsibility now go hand in hand.
With the AEON, he can apply the precise dosage, avoid overlap and keep waste to a minimum. This accuracy reduces his operating costs while also lessening the environmental impact of his work. For Juan Manuel, the sprayer is not only a practical tool for today’s challenges but also a way of ensuring his farm remains competitive and resilient in the years to come.
