Yes, you can. Prices of drones continue to come down but, if you are currently looking at piloting your own drone, expect to pay around the $40-$50k for equipment and training required for broadacre scanning. Contact us if you need more specific information.

You can spray up to any speed without compromising hit rate. Having said that, the faster you go the more chemicals you will use. GeoSelect will recommend when you can speed up (low infestation areas) and when to slow down for better input savings.

Unlike camera spray systems, GeoSelect hardly adds any additional weight to the booms. It only uses four GNSS cameras which means that we can go up to any size boom.

Yes, once the paddock is scanned and all the data is uploaded to the sprayer, GeoSelect uses GPS to determine where to spray and does not need additional hardware.

GeoSelect uses one nozzle per body of the H-Select quad nozzle body to selectively spray. The other three nozzles are controlled by H-Select and can blanket spray instead or at the same time. For more information on H-Select click here

For spraying in general, yes. However, unlike camera systems, height fluctuations will not reduce hit rates. The GNSS antennas combined with the height control system will compensate for height differences as the weed locations are already known.

GeoSelect sprays in a turn the same way it does when moving forward in a straight line. All nozzle positions are known to the system through the 4 x GPS antennas mounted on the boom. As the machine is moved over the paddock the system calculates the exact time the nozzles should turn on / off depending on the boom movements. It doesn’t matter whether this is straight forward, turning with the outer booms moving back over previously sprayed areas, or even in reverse.

GeoSelect does not adjust the nozzle rate in a turn. But you can have a light blanket spray at the same time as selectively spraying, which will adjust the nozzle rate according to the turn radius.

GeoSelect ‘knows’ where all the weeds are before you start. This means that the system knows where all the weeds are before you start spraying. Because of this, GeoSelect can tell you where you can speed up (low or no weed infestation) or where you need to slow down. For example, if there’s a spray run (straight AB line used in auto steering) that doesn’t need to be completed because there are no weeds present in the area, GeoSelect will prompt the operator to skip that run. This will save you money AND time.

GeoSelect uses section control to limit spraying to areas that have been sprayed before. If the sprayer boom moves over an area that has already been sprayed, the corresponding nozzles will switch off. The 4 x GPS antennas enables GeoSelect to know where all parts of the boom are at all times. This is true when one or two of the boom wings are moving independently of each other. Herbicide resistance has been called the number one threat to conventional herbicide-based weed management strategies. According to weedscience.org, the number of herbicide resistance weeds has grown from approximately 10 in 1975 to more than 500 currently. Australia alone has almost 90 herbicide resistant weeds.

Everytime we use a herbicide we increase the resistance to that herbicide. While we can’t prevent this from happening we can slow it by using different chemicals. By spraying only where it’s needed we can opt to use more effective (but often more expensive) chemicals.

Turn compensation is also very important in preventing under dosing. The outer wing can travel up to 50% faster when turning which, without compensating, results in 50% less chemical being deposited. Using HARDI's H-Select nozzle technology means you can reach a target rate accuracy of 90% or better.

Unlike camera based systems, GeoSelect does not have to 'see' the weeds to know where they are. Every individual weed gets its own GPS location which is used by the sprayer to determine where and when to spray.

Chemical savings depend on the amount of weed infestation and sprayer speed whilst spraying.

250mm, 500mm, or 1m spacings on booms up to 54m wide. Individual nozzle control will give the greatest amount of chemical savings.

The resolution of publicly available satellite services is still too low for individual weed detection and can currently only detect larger weeds. Having said that, the technology is moving ahead very quickly and once satellite imaging is more detailed, GeoSelect can use this without upgrades, future proofing your investment.
