Fabrication and Paint Manager

The Role:

​Reporting to the Operations Manager.  

Key Skills: 

  • Proven experience (minimum of 5 years) managing production based steel fabrication workshops in the past

  • Experience with MRP/ERP production planning tools
  • Preferably familiar with the principles of Lean Manufacturing

  • Able to motivate and inspire others
  • Committed to a tidiness in the workplace
  • Able to anticipate obstacles and plan to circumvent them

Duties: 

  • Plan, prioritise and effectively manage day to day functions of the Fabrication and Paint Line factory
  • Ensure KPIs are met for areas of responsibility
  • Ensure safe work practices are followed and HAU WHS policies are complied with in the Fabrication and Paint Line Factory
  • Ensuring risk assessments are conducted and mitigated to the greatest extent practicable in the Fabrication and Paint Line Factory
  • Maintain and update an accurate production plan for the Fabrication and Paint Line Factory
  • Maintain appropriate levels of human resourcing to meet objectives
  • Ensure employees are cross-trained to mitigate the impact of absenteeism
  • Devise, implement and drive a Continuous Improvement programme in the Fabrication and Paint Line Factory
  • Provide Engineering Department with feedback where BOM inaccuracies are detected

Accountable For: 

  • Ensuring Fabrication & Paint Line Factory targets/KPIs are met
  • Ensuring compliance with HAU’s safe work practices within the Fabrication and Paint Line Factory
  • Maintaining an acceptable ‘live’ status plan showing periodic objectives and progress toward those objectives
  • Ensuring employees within the Fabrication & Paint Line Factory are informed and briefed as to deliverables and expectations
  • Delivering agreed Continuous Improvement outcomes across the Fabrication and Paint Line Factory
  • Maintaining the tidy presentation of Fabrication and Paint Line Factory
  • Ensuring that all maintenance is carried out according to the agreed schedule
  • Ensuring that appropriate training is provided to all Fabrication and Paint Line Factory Employees
